Horticulture & Wilderness Therapy provides individuals the opportunity to interact with and observe the beauty of life’s ups and downs and how nature can heal itself and continue on. Horticulture Therapy has been proven to reduce stress, improve social skills, increase independence, develop positive self-esteem, increase management of difficult emotions, develop a stronger sense of purpose, increase observation skills, and encourage creativity. Wilderness/Horticulture Therapy also improves and encourages mindfulness. Mindfulness can help individuals become centered, grounded, and in the moment with themselves, others, and nature.
The therapy includes 38 acres of land, winding trails through the woods, a healing garden, planting beds, and other outdoor activities. Individuals can plant their own plants, tend to their growth, and harvest them when ready.
